Using AI in Employment Decisions

Artificial intelligence has been defined as a machine-based system that can, for a given set of human-defined objectives, make predictions, recommendations or decisions influencing real or virtual environments. Research by the Society for Human Resource Management found that approximately 25% of organizations use AI for human resources processes including recruitment, hiring, performance and termination decisions. This has caught the attention of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency that enforces federal anti-discrimination laws in the United States.
